AREVA’s commitment

AREVA and track and field: inclusiveness and excellence, the common denominators

Track and field is an inclusive sport – one that everyone can practice and enjoy – built on excellence. At its highest level, it is synonymous with competition, performance and technique, but it can also be practiced recreationally for fulfillment and well-being. Track and field has an incredible collective memory: legendary athletes, the human dimension and, of course, Olympic history. This memory forges the link between the elite performers and popular track and field. It is above all a human link, and it is central to AREVA’s commitment to track and field. The continual striving to improve, the faith in the potential of each person, regardless of one’s aspirations, level, background or origin, and the energy, desire and enthusiasm to forge ahead… these are attributes that we at AREVA share with athletes.

Joining forces with a world that reflects its own personality is a way for AREVA to strengthen an already close relationship with its external stakeholders. It is also a way for the group to broaden its appeal even more in answer to keep pace with the challenges of growth. For the group internally, it also is a wonderful opportunity to rally its 75,000 employees around a meaningful project, all together.

A broad, long-term partnership program

AREVA became a track and field partner in 2009. The group wants to invest in track and field over the long term, driven by a desire to:
• help boost the sport by building on the public enthusiasm that major events generate; 
• sponsor top athletes and up-and-coming champions;
• promote the sport outside the stadium as a recreational activity everyone can enjoy.

To meet these goals, AREVA is organizing its partnership program in 2009 around:
• the AREVA Meeting
• the French Track and Field Federation (FFA), for which AREVA is now the leading partner: 
- the French Team will thus wear our brand colors during international competitions; 
- AREVA will be closely associated with all of the French Championships, the supreme events for the French track and field community.
• the French National Track and Field League, as a way to sponsor professional athletes.

In addition, AREVA wants to get more involved in events outside the professional stadium, such as races or marathons that resonate with amateur athletes.
